The set comprises the dwelling, mother with baby, father and child. There is also the camp fire site, a kangaroo, platypus, goanna and snake and water hole.

An information story written by Sherren Gross also accompanies each set.

An amazing cross cultural project  between Sherren Gross, Indigenous artist and Artisans Effort, Kolkata, the muyan-bara has been created. In Sherren’s dialect, muyan-bara means skin people. Family being of the same skin group or clan group.

The set comprises the dwelling, mother with baby, father and child. There is also the camp fire site, a kangaroo, platypus, goanna and snake and water hole.

An information story written by Sherren Gross also accompanies each set.

The set is presented in a handled cotton bag with muyan-bara embroidered on the front.

The dwelling has a height of approx. 10 cms and width of approx.12cms

The mother has a height approx. 8.5cms, the father with spear has a height approx. 12 cms and the boy child carrying a boomerang approx. 7cms tall. The kangaroo has a height of approx. 10cms, the goanna a length approx. 10cms, the snake approx. length 13cms and platypus 10cms.

Sherren’s designs are embroidered onto the cotton material. Sherren has given permission for the artisans at Artisans Effort , Kolkata to create her designs.

This wonderful unique item has been lovingly made by the extremely talented artisans at Artisans Effort in Kolkata, West Bengal , India. Many of the artisans were previously exploited and badly treated in their original workplace. Through your purchase you are helping the artisans regain their dignity and receive a fair wage. For all these artisans and their families it is their lifeline and escape from poverty. As Artisans Effort is a producer based Organization all the Artisans needs and difficulties are closed understood . Not only does this purchase help to enrich the lives ofmany producers but it also helps to fund a school established in January 2014 by the founders of Artisans Effort, Ejaz and Shaista. The school is based in Asansol (West Bengal). As well as admitting paying students, Artisans Effort also covers the cost for some needy students.
